Criminology is a subfield of criminal justice and as such, degree programs in this area prepare you for a vast number of careers. Criminologists are primarily involved in research and teaching, supplying knowledge to the study of policing, police administration, juvenile justice, drug addiction, victimology and criminal theory.



However, because this degree prepares you to work in a number of different settings, criminologists can also serve as law enforcement agents, police officers, FBI agents, medical examiners, air port security, within the correction system, probation or parole officer as well as employees for the local, state and federal government.
