Executive Law Degree

Legal Education without the Bar Exam

The executive law degree program is a unique degree program offered by a limited number of schools. It is designed for those that have an interest in law, but who do not want to practice law but instead serve in advisory, research and educational capacities. Additionally, this program is useful for those whose career would benefit a great deal from legal education but who do not need to become a member of the Bar.

Executive Law Programs

Many professionals do not want to practice law but see the benefit of legal training, as it pertains to their area of expertise. To accommodate this request, a number of schools have developed an executive law program. While this program does not satisfy the legal requirements for admission to the bar, it does provide graduates with opportunities for career advancement and higher level administration positions.

Executive law programs are currently offered by a limited number of schools. Two for-profit schools that offer this degree type are the Concord Law School and William Howard Taft University.

Who chooses Executive Law ?

Fields where this type of degree may be beneficial include business executives, university administrators, medical practitioners, government administrators, investment bankers and insurance industry executives, to name a few.

This type of program provides sophisticated knowledge of the law and sharpens analytical reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking and communication skills. These types of skills are useful in any career, particularly those with greater advisory responsibilities, management and administration.
